Aaahh June, the vegetable garden is finally paying off! Snow peas, broad beans, chard and lots of lettuce were already available, but now we also have early potatoes, carrots, beetroot, summer leek, broccoli, zucchini and cucumbers. We will have to wait a while for the tomatoes, but why complain when there are strawberries, raspberries and blueberries!
But don't think it ends here. In June and August, the anticipating vegetable gardener will ensure that soon there will also be something to eat when the harvest is turned into beetroot pie with goat's cheese, curry with beans and fennel, zucchini stew, carrot salads and roasted beets, New Zealand spinach pie with ricotta and potato salads with peas and broad beans.
For the coming two months, make sure that you can continue cooking with ingredients from the vegetable garden until spring. There are two ways to achieve this:
1a. Perform a cleanup operation
1b. Sow all the empty spots.
2. Sow in pots and trays for future planting in empty spots.
Maybe you haven't harvested that much yet, but if you look closely you will see some (potential) empty spots here and there. A cabbage that has been eaten by pigeons, a row of carrots where only one half has germinated, bolted lettuce, dried snow peas and faded sweet peas. First remove everything that can no longer be harvested or consumed and then sow or plant it again. You can sow kohlrabi or swedes in the cabbage spots, between the carrots you can sow beets. Sow chard, radicchio or parsley on the spot of the lettuce, bush beans where the peas were located and plant zucchini on the spot of the sweet peas. Then follows rule 2. Sow in trays or pots, as soon there will be empty spots again in the vegetable garden and by that time it will be too late for many vegetables to be sown. At that point you come with your seedbed full of veggies: beets, cauliflowers, fennel, Chinese cabbage, green beans, gherkins, broccoli, etc.

When you clear the tomato plants in September or October, you can immediately replant the conservatory with celery, parsley, fennel, kohlrabi, cabbage...

Flowers: borage, sweet William, ragged lady, Indian cress, snapdragon,…
Green manure: bernagie, buckwheat, marigold, clover, lupine, mustard leaf, Indian cress, phacelia and rapini.
